Shrine Auditorium Selects Syntax’s Award-Winning Olevia LCD TV as Official Display of World-Famous Entertainment Center

Los Angeles (PRWEB) November 22, 2005

2005—Syntax Corporation, one of the fastest growing manufacturers of LCD TVs in North America, today announced that the Shrine Auditorium has installed over 25 of Syntax’s award-winning Olevia LCD TVs as the official flat panel display of the world famous arts and entertainment facility.

The addition of Syntax’s Olevia 32-inch, 37-inch and 42-inch LCD TVs represents a key milestone in the first phase of the overall renovation plans for the Shrine Auditorium. Strategically wall mounted in the main entry lobby, in the three mezzanines, concession areas and the Shrine’s Expo Center, Olevia LCD TVs display entertaining and informational content, scrolling news on upcoming events at the Shrine, plus current event TV feed when available, to all attendees.

“Incorporating the Olevia LCD TVs is the cornerstone of our aggressive program to modernize the Shrine to become a state-of-the-art entertainment center,” stated Duke Collister, General Manager of the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Center. “Our new Olevia LCD TVs provide this beautiful theater with the ‘voice’ to communicate directly with all of our patrons and clients.”

Award-winning Olevia LCD TVs

Syntax’s Olevia LCD TVs have recently received several media review awards for their rich features and specifications and overall price/performance affordability. At the EHX/Fall convention this month, the Olevia LT42HVi HDTV won a trophy for ‘Best Video Display’ in the Multi-Room Audio/Video Awards. This 42-inch Olevia HDTV model also recently won media awards including a ‘Product of the Year” from Electronic House Magazine, and as a 2005 ‘Hot List” product by TechLiving Magazine. The 32-inch Olevia HD-Ready LCD TV received an ‘Editor’s Choice’ award in the Winter 2006 issue of The Perfect Vision Magazine’s Ultimate Guide to Home Theater Gear. Earlier this year, the 37-inch Olevia LCD TV received a ‘Best Creative New Product’ award at SINOCES, China’s most prominent consumer electronics exhibition.

Syntax’s Olevia LCD TVs are designed to deliver a total quality digital entertainment experience and are manufactured with the same high quality liquid crystal display panels, video processing chipsets and other key components that are used in Tier One branded products. Olevia LCD TVs yield a two-fold value proposition for consumers—superior performance and affordable prices with a rich warranty and customer support program.

TOWIE’s Lauren Pope Looks to MYA Cosmetic Surgery to Replace her PIP Breast Implants

February 15, 2012 By: Admin Category: Televisions

TOWIE’s Lauren Pope Looks to MYA Cosmetic Surgery to Replace her PIP Breast Implants

(PRWEB UK) 10 February 2012

Last month The Only Way is Essex star Lauren Pope confirmed that she is one of the 40,000 women in the UK who have received the implants by French company Poly Implant Prostheses (PIP), which following legal proceedings, has now been shut down.

The 29 year old DJ and reality TV star chose to visit one of the UK’s leading cosmetic surgery providers MYA Cosmetic Surgery to research having her PIP implants removed and replaced. This is not the first time Lauren has visited MYA. In June last year she had a Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a nose job, with MYA to remove the bump at the top of her nose. Pleased with the results, Lauren tweeted “Hey guys! Just to let u know it is true I did get a nose job the other day by @MYA_Tweet and I am over the moon with the outcome!”

The filming took place last week at one of MYA’s London clinics where TOWIE’s Chloe Sims joined Lauren during her consultation with cosmetic surgeon Mario Russo. Lauren discussed with the surgeon that as well as wanting her PIP implants removed she wanted to change the shape and size of her breasts. “The benefit of having them removed is that I can change what I currently don’t like about my first boob job.”

Lauren Pope is not the only TOWIE cast member to have visited MYA Cosmetic Surgery. Stars of the reality TV show Lauren Goodger and Kirk Norcross have both had nose surgery with MYA, whilst Lauren’s sister, Nicola Goodger who also stars in the show, had a Breast Enlargement. The stars are also huge fans of MYA’s Advanced Beauty Treatments and ex TOWIE cast member, Maria Fowler is a regular at the MYA clinic in London.

The reality TV show, which first aired in October 2010, may have contributed to the boom in cosmetic surgery enquiries that have been made in Essex this year. In January 2012 MYA Cosmetic Surgery saw a 150% increase in enquiries from the Essex region compared to January 2011.

The most popular procedures people in Essex are enquiring about are:

Breast Surgery which makes up 66% of all enquiries.
Nose Reshaping which makes up 10% of all enquiries.
Liposuction which makes up 10% of all enquiries.

The remainder of enquiries made also included various Non-Surgical treatments as well as Buttock Implants.

Wikia Continues Significant Growth Trajectory: comScore Shows Record Traffic for Collaborative Publishing Platform

Wikia Continues Significant Growth Trajectory: comScore Shows Record Traffic for Collaborative Publishing Platform

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 25, 2012

Wikia.com, a collaborative publishing platform that enables people around the world to discover, create and share content on any topic, today announced its traffic results from comScore’s December 2011 Media Metrix, showing a 42% year-over-year traffic increase to 47.6 million global unique visitors and 851 million page views a month.

Wikia’s tremendous organic growth is largely due to a global user base not satisfied to passively consume content in their areas of interest. Instead, and reflecting the continuing democratization of voice across media on the Internet, Wikia communities spark and participate in a new editorial conversation, having created over 200,000 wikis with more than 600 new ones added every day. In addition to the overall numbers across a spectrum of consumer interest subjects, Wikia is accelerating usage in the areas of gaming and entertainment.

“Our rapid growth underscores the value of a post editorial world, where the depth, richness, accuracy and dynamic nature of collaboratively generated content has begun to surpass other traditional editorial leaders,” said Craig Palmer, CEO of Wikia. “More so than ever, our knowledgeable and passionate users are emerging as leading voices. While many traditional media sites maintain a strong browse experience, people come to Wikia to live.”

For December 2011, comScore reported that Wikia Gaming traffic increased 50.7%, totaling 25.7M unique visitors and making it the second largest gaming-focused network on the Web. Wikia Gaming surpassed GameSpot (#3), and inched closer to IGN Entertainment Games (#1), which dropped 10.4% year-over-year in global traffic. Visitors to the gaming vertical on Wikia can choose from more than 65k game wikis and 2.48M game pages, which average more than 25k user edits each day. Meanwhile, Wikia Entertainment experienced similar momentum with 90% growth year over year to date with 19.8M unique global visitors in December 2011.

Hilary Goldstein, Wikia Gaming Category Manager and Eric Moro, Wikia Entertainment Category Manager, two industry all-stars with proven success in content platforms and media marketplaces have now joined Wikia to leverage the undeniable rising consumer interest in its wikis. In these new positions, Goldstein and Moro will lead efforts to amplify Wikia’s naturally strong community voice by curating and cultivating content, as well as creating broader industry partnerships. A role at the forefront of collaborative publishing is an equally natural step in the careers of these two editorial veterans.

“Eric and Hilary are visionaries with a finger on the pulse of these highly engaged audiences,” continued Palmer. “We’re just beginning to really scratch the surface on how brands and our users can work together, and they will be instrumental in curating and surfacing these new experiences for users and industry partners.”

Goldstein, the former Editor-in-Chief of IGN Games, will lead Wikia’s gaming content strategy and development in the new editorial landscape of collaborative publishing. During his nine-year tenure at IGN, Goldstein was instrumental in building the entertainment site to the most trafficked gaming news website on the Internet. Moro will lead Wikia’s entertainment content strategy, surfacing and further developing dynamic experiences around its already robust and engaged community. He spent the past six years as the Editor-in-Chief of IGN’s Movies, TV, and Blu-ray and DVD site and will bring proven content, partnership, and business strategies to Wikia Entertainment.

About Wikia:

Wikia is the definitive place for people to collaboratively pursue their interests and share their knowledge on the web. Using Wikia, anyone can form new communities around any subject they love or participate in over 200,000 existing communities by reading or contributing new content. With over five million pages of rich content, Wikia’s communities are the most authoritative information about any topic on the Internet. Launched as Wikia in 2006 by founders Jimmy Wales and Angela Beesley, Wikia attracts more than 47 million global unique visitors per month and is ranked a Top 50 Internet site according to Quantcast.

Free Teaching Resources Website Relaunched to Cater for Demand

Teachers Website

(PRWEB UK) 1 February 2012

Free-Teaching-Resources.co.uk was the brainchild of Yorkshire entrepreneur Rebecca Jordan. Jordan had the idea for the site after being commissioned by a government agency to create useful lesson plans for schools. She realised that there were lots of fantastic free resources out there, but in many cases teachers didn’t know how or where to find them. As well as being hugely popular with teachers, the website has attracted attention from top charities, museums and blue chip companies who have contributed.

The website lists and reviews free teaching resources and covers all UK subject areas and key stages. The types of resources range from lesson plans, posters and worksheets, to online videos and interactive games. The site boasts an impressive list of contributors including the AA Driving School, NHS Careers, SkillsActive, PETA, NatWest, Battersea Dogs Home, the Equality and Human Rights Commission, The Children’s Society and many many more.

“We are so delighted that the site had been such a huge success with both teachers and companies who want to promote their resources” said Jordan. “We knew we were on to something special when Google listed their teaching resources on our site”.

Free-Teaching-Resources.co.uk now allows organisations to post video directly onto the preview page so teachers can quickly and easily see what there is on offer, plus they can share tips with their colleagues on how they used the materials in the classroom. The site has new resources and news items added weekly so teachers are guaranteed a fresh bank of educational material to choose from. There is also a teachers’ newsletter service for schools who want to be the first to know about any new resources.

Notes For Editors:

Rebecca Jordan is co-founder and director of PDC Education Ltd. She has won national Entrepreneur of the Year awards, written business columns for local and national press, presented a television series on women in business, is a published author of business books, and has sat on the board of the Leeds Metropolitan University Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

Jerry McTaggart, Founder of Christian Credit Counselors, Appears on Good Samaritan Program TV to Talk About Catherine’s Children’s Homes

Jerry McTaggart, Founder of Christian Credit Counselors, Appears on Good Samaritan Program TV to Talk About Catherine’s Children’s Homes

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) January 27, 2012

Jerry McTaggart believes he is more blessed than the children he helps. As a man who dropped out of school after the tenth grade, he has not only excelled as a businessman, but has also thrived as a philanthropist who seems to be working even more in his retirement years.

In an interview shown Monday on Good Samaritan Program TV, McTaggart gave viewers some insight into his involvement with Catherine’s Children’s Home and how essential and rewarding his work with the organization really is.

Catherine’s Children’s Home was founded in 2005 to promote the health and well-being of special needs children, orphans and the most impoverished sections of the population. Catherine’s works to support the population of Mexico by reducing their vulnerability caused by inadequate healthcare services and the absence of suitable services and care – primarily through providing better access to healthcare services, promoting healthcare awareness and mobilizing communities to make sustainable changes.

McTaggart heads up the board of directors for Catherine’s and after retiring as CEO of Christian Credit Counselors in 2006, was able to devote his full attention to expanding the organization and helping as many special-needs kids as possible.

In the interview, he spoke about a boy he and Catherine’s was able to help who had spina bifida, a club foot and a brain tumor. After several procedures and hospitals, the boy beat the odds and would not be needing to learn to live as a quadriplegic.

“You’d never know he’d had all those problems today,” McTaggart said.

The children McTaggart has dedicated his retirement years to helping are many times abandoned, special-needs kids who have had a tough go at life so far. McTaggart lived in a children’s home for five years in the United States during his childhood, so he understands a portion of what these kids are going through.

“These aren’t bad kids,” McTaggart said. “These are kids who need a home.”

McTaggart is currently establishing a new Catherine’s home in Rosarito, Mexico. To view the full interview and episode with Jerry McTaggart, visit the Good Samaritan Program TV ministry page on Faith Channel.

Specsavers calls for Change in Driving Legislation

January 25, 2012 By: Admin Category: Televisions

Specsavers calls for Change in Driving Legislation

(PRWEB UK) 25 January 2012

Specsavers, voted Britain’s most trusted optician(1) is reminding motorists and the government of the importance of regular eye examinations for drivers, following an accident involving a driver with poor eye sight that killed a student.

Colin Horsfall, aged 87, ran down and killed teenager Cassie McCord on a pavement after failing an on-the-spot sight test given by a policeman just three days before. Mr Horsfall died of his injuries a month later. Sitting in Chelmsford, coroner Caroline Beasley-Murray recorded a verdict of unlawful killing on Miss McCord and ruled that Mr Horsfall had died as a result of the accident.(2)

Paul Carroll, Specsavers’ director of professional services, says: ‘This was a tragic accident and our thoughts are with Miss McCord’s family and friends.

‘We have worked with road safety charity Brake for a number of years and would again urge the government to support our call for compulsory eye examinations for drivers, at least every two years, and for drivers to carry a spare pair of glasses in their vehicle. If you cannot see the TV at home or read a newspaper you would automatically reach for your glasses, yet to get into your car and drive without them is apparently acceptable. It most definitely is not and we shall continue to work with Brake to prevent more unnecessary deaths on our roads.’

Julie Townsend, deputy chief executive at Brake, the road safety charity, says: ‘It is truly horrendous to hear of lives being cut short and families suffering as a result of poor driver eyesight. Drivers need to realise the vital importance of getting their eyes tested at least every two years, even if you think your vision is fine. It’s a key part of your responsibility as a driver to make sure you’re not risking your own life and other people’s. We are also renewing our calls for the government to introduce compulsory eyesight tests, to ensure all drivers are fit for the road and so help prevent further tragedies.’

The appeal follows statistics revealing that one in five road users have never had an eye examination.(3) Furthermore, recent research carried out by Brunel University andRoyal Sun Alliance (RSA) (4) reveals that the quality of a driver’s vision has a fundamental impact on their driving performance. Drivers with poor eyesight are 62 percent more likely to stray out of their lane when driving.

Specsavers has campaigned throughout the past decade for legislation to be introduced to make eye examinations compulsory as part of the driving test. Working with police constabularies across the UK and national road safety charity Brake, Specsavers has toured motor shows and county shows nationwide with its Drive Safe campaign trailer to screen drivers’ vision.

For more information and advice on the correct glasses to wear for driving, call 0800 068 0241 or log onto http://www.specsavers.co.uk to find your nearest store.

Fieldwork was undertaken from 21st – 23rd March 2011. The survey was carried out online. The figures have been weighted and are representative of all GB adults (aged 18+)

A recent trend has emerged showing that employees are using work time to access entertainment and social networking on mobile devices – devices which are not monitored via the company network. Companies are hemorrhaging payroll time to mobile entertainment. Dowling/Stars can help organizations create or improve existing mobile strategies. By going on the offensive to mobile users where they are, companies implementing this strategy can watch company profits and productivity soar.

The Dowling/Stars Unified Mobile Strategy was conceived after evaluation of the following facts:

1. Apple, Inc. announced in November that mobile downloads via their iTunes App Store increased 83% year over year, to 5.65 million downloads per day.

2. According to CTIA, mobile devices in use in the USA exceed its population. To reiterate, there are, almost unbelievably, more active mobile devices in America than people!

3. Google, Inc. shared their prediction, based on their massive statistics engine, that mobile Internet usage will overtake that of desktop computers by 2014.

4. Google’s mobile Android platform is climbing toward a staggering 1 million activations per day.

5. ABC News reports that Americans work more than anyone else in the industrialized world.

A business has a finite number of hours in the day during which employees can work, and during which customers can interact with them. Dowling believes that American businesses have lost a tremendous amount of potential mobile computing “market share” to social usage because of the general tendency of business to come late to the technology game. The time for businesses to act is now. If mobile devices become synonymous with entertainment to employees and customers, businesses will lose massive potential productivity and business transaction time to pure entertainment and socialization usage.

Dowling: “Think of this in terms of the following example: if there are 16 waking hours for the average person, every human activity competes for a share of that time. Mobile computing makes socialization and entertainment accessible 24/7, and it’s generally undetectable at work. Desktop network activity can be controlled and tracked, but a business has little control over the wild usage of personal mobile devices.”

The ramifications are self-evident. Business is not getting done while Facebook and YouTube are being accessed on the company’s time. Must this time be hopelessly lost to the company, written off like shrinkage or paid vacation time? It’s a major problem, that will not be rectified by time — quite the opposite, in fact. Enter solution-makers Dowling and Stars, and their Unified Mobile Strategy. “Socialization and entertainment” says Dowling, “are encroaching on business. They are winning the mobile war; business is losing it. Some businesses will spend untold millions trying to curb this trend in the workplace — these attempts will largely fail. Our plan: let business reclaim time in the form of hours and locations which are conducive to mobile usage. Employees and customers can contribute to company success while getting their ‘mobile fix’ at the same time! This is what our Unified Mobile Strategy is all about. Let them connect with you in the checkout line, watching TV, in the cab or sitting at the airport. Americans love to do business. Let them do so whenever they will, and wherever they may find themselves.”

The Dowling/Stars Unified Mobile Strategy has three key elements:

1. Ensure that employees and customers can work and engage in business at any time, and from anywhere, on their mobile devices.

2. Make it as easy as possible for mobile users to interact with the business in every practical way.

3. Make solutions mobile native, or at least very mobile friendly.

The more difficult it is to use a mobile app or service, the less time can be reclaimed for business purposes.
